The child picks coins (1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50) to pay the exact price of what they buy, learning to make the same number in different ways: 15 = 10 + 5 or 5 + 5 + 5.
In the change exercise the child pays with a note or a big coin and works out what the shopkeeper gives back, a real-life subtraction. We don't name any particular currency so the site suits children from every country.
