π Desert champions
Desert animals live in great heat with little water, so they sleep in burrows by day and come out at night when it's cooler. The jerboa hops on its long back legs, and the fennec fox has big ears that cool its body.
π The Arabian oryx
The Arabian oryx is a beautiful white antelope with two long straight horns. It nearly died out, but people protected it and helped it breed, and now it lives in the desert again.
π‘ Mountain dwellers
In the mountains live the Nubian ibex, which climbs rocks skillfully, and the rare Arabian leopard, which scientists are trying to save from extinction.
π― Let's protect our animals
Many wild animals in the Arab world have become rarer because of too much hunting and the destruction of their homes. So Arab countries have set up nature reserves to protect them.
