About โBinary numbersโ
Each card has twice as many dots as the card to its right. A face-up card is written 1 and a face-down card 0, so the number 5, for example, becomes 101 in computer language.
The activity is inspired by โCS Unpluggedโ (computer science without a computer) lessons, and goes from three cards, up to seven, to five cards, up to thirty-one.
