π How does milk become cheese?
The cheesemaker puts a special substance in the milk, which curdles it into soft white lumps called curds, leaving a yellow liquid called whey. Then the curds are pressed and salted, and become cheese.
π Soft cheese and hard cheese
Some cheese is eaten fresh and soft, like white cheese, labneh and curd cheese, and some is left for months to dry and harden until its taste gets strong, like cheddar and rumi cheese.
π‘ Why does cheese have holes?
Some Swiss cheese has big holes, because tiny living things let out gas bubbles inside the cheese as it ripens, leaving holes behind.
π― Good for your bones
Cheese is rich in calcium, which strengthens bones and teeth, and protein, which helps the body grow. But some has a lot of salt, so let's eat it in moderation.
