๐ Why dough rises
The baker puts a little yeast in the dough. Yeast is made of tiny living things that eat sugar and give off little gas bubbles, so the dough rises and the bread becomes soft and full of tiny holes.
๐ Steps to make bread
The baker mixes flour, water, salt and yeast, kneads it well, leaves it to rest and rise, cuts and shapes it, then bakes it in a hot oven until it turns golden.
๐ก Bread without yeast
Some bread is made without yeast and stays thin and flat, like rqaq bread and saj bread, baked on a curved iron plate over the fire.
๐ฏ Wheat, barley and maize
Bread is usually made from wheat flour, but people also make it from barley, maize and oats. Brown bread from whole wheat is very good for the body.
