π In short
Gardening is a fun hobby where we grow plants and look after them. A garden can be a piece of land in front of the house with flowers, trees and vegetables, or just a few small pots on the balcony or by the window.

π Kinds of gardens
Flower gardens have beautiful flowers and trees for enjoyment, and vegetable gardens have vegetables and fruit we eat. There are also indoor gardens of houseplants in pots.
π Getting started
Prepare the soil by digging it and clearing out stones, then plant seeds, bulbs or small seedlings, water them regularly and pull out the weeds.
π‘ What do plants need?
Plants need sunlight, water, good soil and air. And each plant has its own needs: cacti love sun and little water, and ferns love shade and damp.
π― Your little garden
Start with easy plants like mint, parsley, beans and sunflowers. Watch them every day, and you'll be thrilled to see the first green leaf poke out of the soil!
