Honey

๐Ÿ“– In short

Honey is a sweet, golden, delicious liquid that bees make from flower nectar. It's one of the most useful and oldest foods. God says of it in the Qur'an: ๏ดฟูŠุฎุฑุฌ ู…

Did you know?

  • The world produces more than a billion kilograms of honey every year.
  • Honey is a sweet food that doesn't need refining.
  • Bees visit millions of flowers to make just one kilogram of honey.

๐ŸŒŸ The nectar's journey

A worker bee flies from flower to flower, sips the sweet nectar with her tongue and keeps it in a special pouch in her body called a honey stomach, then carries it back to the hive.

๐Ÿ” From nectar to honey

In the hive, the bees put the nectar into six-sided wax cells and fan their wings over it to evaporate the water, so it becomes thick and sweet, then they cap it with wax.

๐Ÿ’ก Colors and flavors

Honey's color and taste depend on the flowers the bees collected nectar from: sidr honey is dark and strong, clover honey is light and mild, and wildflower honey is varied.

๐ŸŽฏ It doesn't spoil

Honey doesn't go bad if it's kept well: scientists have even found honey thousands of years old in ancient Egyptian tombs that was still good to eat!
