About โPerimeter and areaโ
Pupils often mix up perimeter and area. On the grid the child sees the difference: area is the number of squares inside the shape (in square centimeters), and perimeter is the length of the line around it (in centimeters).
After rectangles come L-shapes where the formula isn't enough, so the child counts and thinks. The answers on offer always include the common mix-up: perimeter instead of area.
