📣 Commands: Range ta chambre !

We use the imperative to tell someone to do something: Ferme la porte ! (Close the door!). In the imperative we don't write the pronoun, and there are only three forms: for tu, for nous and for vous.

1 Three forms

With -er verbs we drop the s in the tu form: tu joues → Joue !

4 Telling someone not to

Put ne ... pas around the verb: Ne cours pas ! (Don't run!), Ne touchez pas ! (Don't touch!).

💡 Watch out!

Add s'il te plaît or s'il vous plaît to turn the command into a polite request: Passe-moi le sel, s'il te plaît.
